Tyler, Bre, Todd, Ashley and Mckell came down to visit over the weekend. We took the canoes and kayak out on the River and ended up swimming in Whites Rapid. We ran through the biggest waves just to see what would happen.Everything I row or paddle now days is self bailing and I think that I forgot that canoes are not.We filled up with water pretty quick and with no floatation to displace the water we ended up slowly rolling over. You can see the whole sequence on the Moab Action Photos webpage.
We also climbed Tukinikivatz, the third highest peak in the La Sals (12, 482 ft.) and the most recognizeable.
Prayer flags on the summit with Ty (curly Mullet) and Todd (President Van Buren)

I loved the pictures of the canoe going under, that looks a little scary.
I don't really know that much about whitewater but I have heard that it is best to stay in the boat. Still planning on a Sept WW and an Oct Cat. Hope you can make it.
Staying in your boat is totally overated. Only losers stay in their boats.
i would never take white water advice from a newton.
just kidding. thanks bri for the awesome weekend!
yeah you guys sure look like a bunch of "WINNERS" and you are going over in those pictures.oh did I say winners I meant weiners. Real men can roll a canoe back up. I however am not a real man. It was pretty devastating hiking up in the big east. They have started to reclaim the road and it is blocked of to anykind of vehicle right at the old campground but the old trail is gone for good. all of the haunted forest parts of the trail have just been bulldoze. Neverthelesss it was really nice being back up there. The wildflowers are going off and it still smells like the Big east. Hopefully it will recover! and my gutbomb breakfast had nothing to do with max pukin. Hey Toady do you wanna muzzleload for elk this year?
